WELCOME - About Us

Take a friend, partner or special group on a beach trail ride along the wild deserted beaches between Warrnambool and Port Fairy situated approximately 3 hours from Melbourne.

Rundells Mahogany Trail Rides had been taking out trail rides on the beach and teaching riding lessons for 12 years, we have a team of friendly, helpful staff that are very experienced and knowledgeable when working with horses.

We offer riders of all experience levels, from the complete beginner to the experienced rider the opportunity to ride wonderful horses along a quiet and isolated stretch of beach. Our horses have been specially bred and trained to cater for all riders from the nervous beginner to the very experienced so that everyone can enjoy the thrill of riding a horse along a wide open beach.

Every rider is given easy to understand instructions on how to ride, by our experienced staff, before leaving on the ride as well as help and instruction during your ride, so that all participants can feel safe, secure and in control while riding our horses. Our rides go out 7 days a week all year round (Closed Christmas and Anzac days only) and in most weather conditions.

Discover Warrnambool’s coastline, a part of the Great Ocean Road, on horseback. Every season offers a different experience. Rug up in winter and get outdoors, gaze upon wild, crashing waves, beautiful gold and green sand dunes and leaves glistening after the rain. Or come for a ride in summer and see pristine blue water and sunny beaches while the horses splash through the shallows on the shoreline. If you are lucky catch a glimpse of a wallaby or seal, or sit back and view a great range of bird life.

Your ride will take you out over Kelly’s Swamp and cattle grazing grounds, through scenic sand dunes and out onto the beach* where you have the chance to go for a couple of canters.  Ride along our picturesque stretch of beach, with the opportunity to stop and have our friendly staff take your photo before ascending “”Hoon Hill””, a large sand dune, given its name for the racehorses that used to be galloped up it as part of their training. Look down from the top of “Hoon Hill” at the spectacular surrounds before heading down through the bush and returning home.

Our staff lead all rides so every rider will have a safe and enjoyable ride. Every rider walks and trots (a slow jog), with the opportunity to have a go at a canter, even if you have never ridden before, an experience that very few other trail riding establishments will offer first time riders, we don’t however gallop our horses.

Horse riding truly is a fantastic activity, get out and enjoy the outdoors, great exercise for your whole body and a heap of fun.
We also run a fantastic children’s day program during the school holidays, to give parents a much needed break (more information under rides/pricing tab).

Live your dream at Rundells!!!

*1Hour ride does not go on the beach only to the top of “Hoon Hill” for a spectacular beach view. All other rides go on the beach, unless otherwise discussed with staff.
